Ann Glover is a painter and sculptor living in Roanoke, VA. Glover received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Virginia and has exhibited her work across the U.S. She received a professional fellowship in painting from the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts (VMFA) in Richmond. Her fellowship exhibit ‘A Common Light: Los Angeles to Roanoke’ was commissioned for the Pauley Center, VMFA. Other exhibits include ‘9/11 Commemoration’ at the Pepco Edison Center in DC and ‘Los Angeles Perspectives’ at the University of California, Los Angeles. Her site specific sculpture ‘MYTH’ was commissioned for the atrium at the Taubman Museum of Art.
Her work for the current show depicts a range of territory that mirrors the adventures of childhood. From hidden spaces between houses to backyard creeks formed by melting snow, subject matter is close by. Narratives unfold in the theatre of the front yard as neighbors appear, framed by the play of light and shadow. The natural world, devoid of architecture or figures, starts at the edge of the lawn or deep in the woods. It invites us to wade or dive in and has another story to tell.
