Patrick Callaway | Beyond The Surface

Patrick Callaway is a Roanoke-based painter celebrated for his expressive, deeply human portraits that bring the subtleties of character to life. Born with a love for community and a passion for art, Patrick’s practice is rooted in his surroundings, often taking him outdoors to capture the vibrancy of life in natural light. At 27, he draws influence from renowned artist James Gurney, whose imaginative realism and commitment to plein air painting have shaped Patrick’s own approach. Dedicated to bridging his work with his community, Patrick uses his portraits that tell a story beyond the surface of the canvas, creating a visual celebration of the people and places around him. Through his art, he seeks to inspire others.
